“Catching The Deuce”

This is a YA novel inspired by Robert Louis Stephenson’s ‘Treasure Island.’ What would it look like if a contemporary pirate, otherwise known as a gangster, buried his fortune somewhere in the five boroughs of New York City before he died? And what if the key to finding it found its way into the hands of two thirteen-year old Little League baseball players from The Bronx? I spent eleven years in The Bronx, and my impression of Bronx kids is that they generally possess a level of street smarts and mental toughness that has to be experienced to be believed. The two in this story, City Island Pete and Cheo Hernandez, are going to need all of that plus a good dose of luck to come through this adventure unscathed. But in the process, they will both learn a few things about trust, purpose, love, and how to catch a good curveball.
